Smells like a salty cucumber, that’s abt it

peachfairy

I can relate to the comments saying this smells as a salty cucumber salad the most - in Bulgaria we have a cold soup called "tarator", it consists of yoghurt, cucumbers, fresh dill and it's commonly served with chopped walnuts on top. This is exactly the smell I get from this (confirmed by 2 other locals as well). That being said - I don't hate it all, quite on the contrary. It's not reading "food" in the classical sense, instead it just has the freshness of these ingredients and a slight pink peppery note. A good, salty fresh aquatic scent for the summer.

AikoKoji

The trio of creamy woody green-leaning aquatics:

Zoologist Seahorse- the complex, sometimes challenging one
ELDO Sous Le Pont Mirabeau - the edgy modern one
Miller Harris Hydra Figue - the understated, elegant one

Out of the three- I'd say the Miller Harris one has the smoothest blend of this particular DNA, but the ELDO one is the best value and easiest daily reach if this is your thing.

marietangerine

This smells like an aquatic version of Santal 33 to me. I definitely get that spicy powdery sandalwood, but also a salty cucumber salad feeling (like someone else mentioned below). It is fresh, it is unisex. Decent longevity, intimate to moderate projection.

CynicalPink

Smelled like cucumber salad on me (F). Verified by friends. But — we all liked it! A simple freshie that would be nice for summer. Given that a 50ml is often on sale for $60 or less at discount sites, it feels worth the price.

norock

I don't understand the reviews stating it's boring. Very different scent from "male" fragrances I've had or tried in the past, and very enjoyable. It's definitely unisex to my nose. It is clean but briny, woody and sweet. Feels like there are florals buried in here too. Complex and fun! Highly recommended.

beavisbonce

Disappointed. Very boring. I usually find good and not much bad in ELDO's offerings. Glad I didn't buy it blind. If this is the direction the house is heading, I'm out.

cluck1000

Super generic men’s fragrance. Very boring and not what I’ve come to expect from ELDO honestly. I love love love Like This and You or Someone Like You, Fat Electrician, many others from the house that all have something special and unique about them. But not this! Smells like so many other blue/green/aquatic/citrus men’s freshies and just is unmemorable. Curious to see if I like this more on my fiance (he can certainly have it lol)

qwertygluip

woody and spicy, but also incredibly fresh and aquatic. at first I wasn't impressed because it's not my favourite type of scent profile but I changed my mind after some time had passed. I would say it's one of these scents that smell way waaay better in the dry down. I found myself smelling my wrist repeatedly throughout the day.

Chloerose666

I compared and tested this alongside Like This (Tilda Swinton) ELdO which was a fun idea.

On the opening blast I much preferred Like This, but on the dry down I much preferred Sous!

The initial blast is very bergamot heavy, its peppery and its deep, rich and strong. I am a fan of spices and bergamot usually but there is something lurking in the first sniff of this that I don't like. I don't tend to enjoy frags with an 'ozonic' note to be fair so its probably that in the mid notes.

Once dried down however I did really like this! Giving autumn vibes for sure its very warm and spicy, a nice gingery musk on my skin. Pretty good longevity and sillage too.

In general though I don't really feel like I overly gel well with ELdO, their frags are a bit synthetic and there's always something hiding in there that puts me off.

A double priced Kenzo Homme

behemotha

I still don't know if I like it. Smells a bit sweaty to me.
Go get L'Erbolario's Fior di Salina for 1/3 of the price of ELdO. The similarities are too strong.

I fell in love with it instantly. To me, it stands out. It's salty, almost pickle lol. But it's also slightly floral and super fresh. It feels like sitting on the shore, with trees and bushes nearby. I love the smell of the sea and this perfume did it so well

Myrtillajus

This is the story of an ended love. Of melancholy towards a beloved woman: the love story between Marie Laurencine and Apollinaire.
Attending a group of artists, Marie fell in love with Guillaume Apollinaire, a poet: a stormy and passionate relation, which lasted until 1912. To this love we owe well-known works, on both sides: especially after the separation.
A memory of the sparklingness, the airiness and the beauty of those moments, enclosed in a bottle.
Fresh, refreshing and clean, very suitable for the warmer seasons.
“The muse that inspires the poet” painted by Rousseau, dedicated to this splendid and tormented couple.

Ebichuunee

I have the watery woody scent on my skin, kind of slightly aromatique too definitely comforting. Fresh and warm at the same time kind of unique, I actually have a ha4 time to wear it as a woman but I really enjoy smelling it

muzzbait

Quite sweet, fruity and borderline green -- I wouldn't say this is something I normally go for, but I did enjoy sniffing this, I must say. There are some Santal 33 overtones here, as well as a De Los Santos vibe, but overall what I get is the synthetic combo that works to make this come across as a laundry detergent more than a scent. Just my opinion on this (today, at least), and whilst I don't love it, I can't say I hate it, either...

kreestonp

This scent brings up such a specific scent memory for me that I couldn't help but love it the second I smelled it - I grew up in central FL and spent a lot of time on the rivers and lakes, and in particular the freshwater springs. This smells like your hair and skin after you've been swimming in spring water all day, now that you've air dried just laying in a sunny patch of grass. it's the woods, it's the water, it's the wet dirt and grass at the edge of the river. I adore this and scored a 100ml of it for Christmas.

ysads

It's not exactly a bad fragrance, but I agree with the others in that it's very simple. In fact, too simple to justify its price.
It smells like the cheap perfume section of a drugstore. The kind of thing someone would pay 15, 20 EUR for a bottle if they just wanted to smell like something, doesn't matter what.
Also, for me it's overpowering aquatic and powdery, to the point that I can't really smell anything else.
Pass.

Jamie800

Really sour, almost vinegary, although not as strong as pickles I would say. Too sharp and sour to be fresh, but too green to be warm. A little bitter too. I don't think I'd hate it on somebody else, but certainly not on me

cats797

There is an unmistakably human note in this, but also a pickle note. It kinda smells like if you leaned in to give your metrosexual male friend a quick hug and he also had just eaten a pickle. I don't have much to say about this one. I'd say it leans more towards a masculine scent. It's pleasant, but I can't stop smelling the pickle

Aers Etat Libre d'Orange Advent Calendar

I bought the ELdO discovery set and made it my advent calendar. I'll try to post a review every day in the order the samples are in the set.

Day 10 - Sous Le Pont Mirabeau

If I thought yesterday's Like This was edible, this was a lot more so. I think I've never before smelled a fragrance that reminded me so much of a dish as this one. From the first moments on, until about 7 hours in, this was primarily one thing for my partner and me both: Cucumber Salad. Now, I don't know how universally known Cucumber Salad - or the type I'm referring to from a probably very German point of view - is in the world. As such, I will do my best to describe the notes I was smelling.

From the get-go, this was a very fresh scent. Watery, green, herbal, aquatic, peppery, with some added sourness and brine. Imagine slicing up a cucumber and think of that smell. It's greenish water, more or less. Now add some salt, some pepper, some vinegar, and some dill. That's the cucumber salad. And this is exactly what Sous Le Pont Mirabeau smelled like.

It's fresh, all right. Not shower gel fresh, but green, herbal fresh. The pepper does marvels in this but I could not shake the constant dill note from it and whenever I smelled it, my mind went back to said salad. Throughout the day, I was constantly amazed by just how much I could not get away from this exact smell. There was some variance between my partner and me - on her skin, the vinegar-esque, briny sourness was more present, on my skin, the pepper came out much clearer, but the impression stayed the same.

Now while I rave on about how much like the dish this smelled, this did not make it undesireable by any means. It's airy, fresh, briny, marine, herbal, it's a lot of goodness in a bottle. It's probably not exceptionally special but I think on warm days, this is a fantastic wear. It also projected stronger than any other ELdO fragrance I tried so far and kept more than 7 hours of pretty consistent presence before it went into more of a dry-down phase on my skin, going into a generic abstract freshness. On my partner's wrist, it continued going strong even beyond that.

This is a very unisex fresh scent that plays nice during warm spring and hot summer days. The association with cucumber salad confused me and played tricks on my mind, but I think this is a very pleasant, long-lasting fragrance. I probably could not wear it without constantly being reminded of the salad, but that might just be my exact skin and nose. I think it's a cool twist on the aquatic green notes freshie and wouldn't be shy to recommend it.

esteban747

Out of all the diverse and out-there creations of Etat Libre d’Orange, Sous le pont Mirabeau stands out for its simplicity and quiet profile.
It gives a calming effect, just like water flowing peacefully under a bridge.
As unlikely as it may sound, this perfume may be used anytime during the day. Office? Sure. Gym? Why not. Date? You bet.
At least on my skin the violet is quite prominent but in a good way, still I don’t see any note clashing with other notes for attention.
It’s a clean, very easy to wear, a bit ozonic and a tad powdery.
As I said, every time I wear it I get a sense of peacefulness and calmness

aristov

The fig ruins it for me

Desii

Addictive. Smells absolutely beautiful it reminds me of the smells of early, humid and wet fall. The ozonic and oceanic note representing the refreshing cool wet and rainy air. The fresh fig bergamot and pink pepper being the aroma set free of the remaining bounties of summer as they begin to rot and set their aroma free in the rain. And lastly the base notes representing the wet woods.

NevesR

ELDO's Light Blue Eau Intense Pour Homme. Salty, aquatic, generic clean musk.

Holliebobollie

Odd and addictive. I’m really into salty scents at the moment. I find myself working quickly through my sample. A perfect easy spray on the way to school run or the gym. Not sure why it gets so much hate. It lasts. I guess it’s not groundbreaking though

kpop_stan

Reminds me of Zoologist Snowy Owl the tiniest bit in the opening - green, vanillic, paired with a bracing icy-freshness. This quickly goes away and develops into a typical "soft spicy citrus men's cologne" type of scent profile. The fresh watery aspect I was hoping for is definitely there, but buried underneath everything else. After a short time it does settle into a smoother scent profile - not quite so aggressively peppery, instead the saltwater aspect comes to the forefront with the woods and the musk. Still very much "men's cologne" but a lot easier on the nose.

Not a bad scent, just not what I'm looking for! I think those who are into those typical "blue" fragrances would most likely enjoy this one.

The Wolf

I love ELDO but this one is super dull. The opening is slightly interesting, but it goes downhill fast. Pepper, some green notes, pepper, some generic watery notes, pepper, and generic woods. Bottle is cool, idea is cool, but this one is uninspired. I wore it a few times and sold it.

Scent 4/10
Performance 5/10

adahn

Wow this is way too generic smelling for ELDO. It's literally another boring musky aquatic that leans more masculine.

ShinningLightOfThunder

Green, fresh, slightly peppery scent, nothing too outstanding.

Baltabarin

SOUS LE PONT MIRABEAU unfolds into an intense and opulent olfactory experience, a characteristic often found in ELDO (Etat Libre d'Orange) fragrances. The interplay of fresh and briny woods, accompanied by a subtle touch of cold smoke, pepper, cedar, and resins, creates a harmonious blend reminiscent of the familiar scent of freshly sharpened pencils - sharp and aromatic. Hints of violet and vanilla soften the edges, delicately enhancing the composition without stealing the spotlight.

As it transitions to the drydown, I personally detect a brief, slightly chypre phase, followed by a lingering presence of timid ambroxan (Orcanox). The longevity and projection of this fragrance are not overly pronounced, which aligns perfectly with the intimist concept behind its creation.

SOUS LE PONT MIRABEAU evokes the essence of a summer afternoon spent drawing in the sheltered garden of a seaside house or embarking on a nostalgic bicycle ride through childhood landscapes. It exudes youthful energy, subtly tempered by a sense of uneasy sensitivity.

sunnyviolets

Womanity, if Womanity was from this realm.

rickyrebarco

Boring salty, marine yawner, similar to Dior's Eden Roc. Smells rather like algae on my skin. Not a good thing! If you want a good seaside scent consider Dior's Dioriviera, which is much better, or Parfums de Nicolai's Riviera Verbena, a real beauty.

Random Spirit Lover

Oh yay, another sandalwood scent :/
Or, to be more critical… oh yay, another generic, screechy, synth woods-violet nightmare.
I truly expect better from Eldo, maybe that’s foolish at this point.

Caveat: I am really not a fan of sandalwood, at least not on myself, and it seems when it is used heavily in a fragrance it ends up overpowering all other notes for me. So all I’m really getting is this terrible chemical-smelling sandalwood that I’ve smelled a million times.
The only sandalwood focused fragrance I’ve found that I truly like is Bois de Balincort by Maison Louise Marie

Haisul

Just got a full bottle, absolutely love it!!

10/10 for extreme hot summer.

This is my first niche acuátic perfum it reminds me Beaver and Squirt from Zoologist, but I love this over this two for the more solid base and good longevity.

At the end, the dry down represent wonderful wood note, wet? and sweat? Por the cedar wood, sandalwood and vanilla maybe. Love how the elemi sweetness plays with the ozone notes.

It is wonderful!!

mlke

I oscillate between liking it and thinking it's a somewhat boring mash-up of violet-hued woods and aquatic fresh accords. I pick up a predominant sweet-melon character that reminds me of calone, but It's probably the fig and acquatic notes combining in ways I've smelled before. I actually like how it turns softer and more towards vanilla as it develops, but then I realized it's essentially an aquatic twist on sandalwood.

From there it's creamy, sweet, soft and almost billowy especially once the vanilla comes through. The heart of violet lends that classic aquatic/ozonic character and often feels like a very wet piece of wood with hints of marine life. It's a nice pairing that you can connect to their point of inspiration, but it's nothing really wild or outside the box. I also pick up the orcanox, which is just another ambroxan look-alike so you can imagine it also comes with a vibrant, shimmering and slightly warm, mineralic aura around it. It doesn't smell as biting and sharp as straight ambroxan, but I've never smelled it in isolation and that's just my impression of how it feels a little more subdued here. I think the incense adds a bit of a resinous body, but it's faint, and I think it's supporting things that are already there: sparkling/balsamic top notes and woody bases.

Overall a good blend of accords, but for me it's too close to a genre of cheap, woody-violet things I've smelled before, and I could see being put off by how long it lingers, like I find with other ELDO things that lean into ambroxan. The sweet violet nuances also put it in a more youthful, playful kind of category that I don't usually enjoy. To be fair though, that's part of what makes ELDO fun, and I could see this being as easy of a wear as Hermann for some, if you like sandalwood. This is also one of their safer fragrances, for better or worse.

MrMrOverHere

Great addition to the ELDO lineup. Opens like a more polite sibling of Zoologist's Squid. Both hit you with big pink pepper up front along with some salty, incense-y nuances, but where Squid veers darker on the drydown, this lands in uplifting, beachy, suntan lotion territory. Squid's ambergris note is supplanted here with Orcanox, which seems to serve a similar purpose but may lack a bit of the former's staying power. I also get a passing similarity in the drydown to the original formulation of Imaginary Authors' Soft Lawn, but I'm not sure as to which specific aspects of the two scents I'd attribute that comparison. Similar vibes, though.

I'm a big fan of this one. Good summertime scent that's unique enough to set itself apart but not too artistically motivated for its own good. One of ELDO's better new releases.

CGud23

This perfume reminds me of Micallef’s Soleil Passion but without the pomegranate. It has the same type of musk in the base. On my skin, it tends to go a bit sharp though. Not sure yet how I feel about this perfume! It’s just a meh for me.

The most dominant notes to my nose are fig, sandalwood, aldehydes and musk.

ceedles

I have finally received my ELDO sample set and am really enjoying exploring these scents. Given that there are very few reviews for this new release, I thought I would leave one.

The first spritz of this scent immediately screamed Santal 33 to me - obviously, that's the sandalwood. But as somebody who finds Santal 33 too 'dill pickle' and unwearable (I sold mine), almost as immediately, it was clear to me that Sous le Pont Mirabeau had much softer edges to it. There is something fruity and herbal enveloping the sandalwood, taking off the spiky edges which feel so unavoidable in Santal 33. It is much more wearable, so if you are somebody who like me, did quite like Santal 33 in one way but also found it too pickle-like and off-putting, I highly recommend you try this fragrance.

As it settles, it begins to smell somewhere between medicinal and a cocktail. It brings to my mind sitting in an outdoor terrace of a restaurant on a busy main street, on holiday, in the sun, eating appetisers and drinking cocktails. There is something reminiscent of sunscreen coming through (though in no way similar to scents like MMM's Beach Walk or Tom Fords Soleil Blanc) that gives it holiday vibes.

This is absolutely not a safe blind buy, but I'm surprised by how much I love it and highly recommend getting hold of a sample, especially if you like Santal 33. It settles into something surprisingly delicate, though still with quite a sharp, herbal, woody core.

Savage1

I am building my fragrance collection and tend to order samples right now to save from regretting blind buys. I received a sample of this today. It is my first (of hopefully many) Etat Libre d'Orange and I was assuming I would like it based on the notes and the reviews. But, I got dill pickle almost right off the bat. Not strong dill, but definitely there. I don't do dill in my fragrances well. I was disappointed but the advantage of samples continues. No need spending more on this scent. Je m'amuse à sentir des parfums.

Hawaii Jake

I'm writing after obtaining a sample from the manufacturer.

This is a very bright, playful fragrance. Really delightful. Quick citrus opening, and then it blooms into this seaside, sunny lotion scent that I can just imagine a beautiful person wearing while sipping a Mai Tai under a beach umbrella.

I honestly don't know what orcanox smells like, but the woody vanilla is so soft. It's the perfect base.

One word: fun!

Thanasis_87k

It reminds of a sweet salt candy. Also, reminiscent of the scent when opening your bag after spending a sunny day on a sandy beach, with the towel still wet from sea water and lotion. Quite likeable in my opinion. Day perfume, and unisex.

Bergamet

@joaoqrafael the incense note comes from olibanum, which is another name for frankincense.

joaoqrafael

Unisex leaning masculine. Citrus aquatic opening, but had an incense feel that I couldn't pinpoint to a specific note. Easy wearing, good release, full bottle worthy.

Kerdh
